The Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment for Moodle quizzes and exams. If you enable the LockDown Browser, students must install the browser on their computer and then use it to log in to Moodle and take the test. While using it, they are unable to copy, print, access other applications, visit other websites, or close the test until it is submitted.
The Student Version of LockDown Browser uses a standard Windows or Mac installer. This download link is unique for University of Eastern Africa, Baraton. Please note students are required to install the application on their machines for them to take a Respondus Lockdown Browser and/or Monitor enabled exams.
If the instructor sets a test to require LockDown Browser, it cannot be accessed with a standard browser (Chrome, Mozilla etc). Should you attempt to use any other browser, you are notified that the test requires LockDown Browser.

No, once the session starts, the browser doesn’t allow you to navigate to other areas on your device. Please ensure you have reliable connectivity and where possible, set your connections to automatically switch over to the best service provider in case of an outage
Once an exam starts, the clock keeps going. If you get disconnected for 5 minutes, the test will be minus that time when you eventually reconnect. All saved attempts will still be available for you to proceed.
